Job Summary:

You will organize and present professional development programs for K12 educators aimed at improving their ability to teach about economics, personal finance, and the Federal Reserve. You will write print and digital curriculum resources for use in K12 and college classrooms. You will present education programs and activities for school groups and the public at the Bank's public museum. You will report to the Economic Education Officer.

What You Will Do:

Program Organization and Delivery

  • Organize and present in-person and online professional development programs for educators.
  • Write print and digital curriculum materials for use by K12 educators.
  • Present at conferences and other professional development opportunities with multiple economic education, personal finance, and consumer organizations within the District and nationally.
  • Represent the Bank at exhibits at education conferences within the District and nationally.
  • Coach K12 teachers across the District on the implementation of economics and personal finance lessons and other curriculum materials.
  • Contribute to the delivery of programming for the school groups and the general at the Bank's public museum.
  • Address audiences on general economics and personal finance topics and on the role and responsibilities of the Federal Reserve System.
  • Respond to teachers' requests for economic education information or curriculum resources.

Other

  • Support the daily running of the Bank's public museum, as needed.
  • Maintain relationships across the Reserve Bank and the Federal Reserve System and with external partners that grow the teaching of economics and personal finance in K12 schools and the public's understanding of the Reserve Bank's and Federal Reserve System's work.
  • Be a member of a custody control team for the Bank's historic coin and currency collection.
  • Help other team members with presentation of programs and conferences, curriculum development, and research efforts.

What You Have:

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of K12 pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of economic theory, banking, financial issues, and the Federal Reserve.
  • Knowledge of best practices in education and economic education.
  • Ability, with guidance, to design, write, and produce curriculum materials for publication.
  • Experience presenting to others and explaining issues clearly.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to set priorities and contribute to multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
  • PC skills, including Word and Excel.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in economics or related field. Advanced degree in economics, economic education, or education, preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience teaching economics, at the K12 or college level preferred.
  • Experience publishing high quality economics and personal finance curriculum materials for K12 teachers, preferred.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift curriculum materials and push carts as required.

Ability to travel overnight is required
