Job Summary
A rurally located hospital in western Colorado is seeking an experienced Blood Bank professional to be the Blood Bank Supervisor at their 80 bed medical center. The Level III Trauma Hospital is truly part of the local community and the Blood Bank Supervisor will feel at home in this beautiful location.
The Blood Bank Supervisor will utilize their experience and certifications through the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) to oversee daily operations of the Blood Bank. Along with other hospital laboratory leadership, the Blood Bank Supervisor has 24/7 oversight of this department. Medical Technologist and Medical Laboratory Techs enjoy work alongside one another in a department that has shown little staff turnover.
The Blood Bank Supervisor performs various chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The Lab Supervisor also applies techniques used in the field of blood banking, hematology, serology, chemistry and morphological examinations.
In conjunction with the Laboratory Technical Director and Medical Director, the Blood Bank Supervisor ensures technical and regulatory oversight of the Blood Bank section in the Laboratory to include: continual compliance to federal, state and/or local regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies, acts as a technical resource for staff, maintains essential equipment function checks, review and development of policies and procedures, participation in hospital blood utilization, preparation and oversight of department quality assurance/improvement and quality control program.
