The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location in the Corporate Finance Division.  

The Senior Accountant is a key member of the finance team responsible for supporting the consolidation process and the preparation of the monthly consolidated income statement and balance sheet of the corporation using HFM, ESSBASE and SAP. As part of the consolidation process, the position posts necessary topside consolidation adjusting journal entries; prepares the consolidated reporting package distributed to senior management and prepares various account analyses used to review the consolidated balance sheet and prepare the cash flow statement. The position is also responsible for the preparation of various account analyses related to the components of consolidated goodwill and intangible assets (e.g. gross intangibles and related amortization expense) and other accounting analyses used in the preparation of the footnotes in the Form 10K and 10Q’s. The position also assists in the preparation of various ad hoc account analyses for senior management.

What You’ll Work On

  • Prepare the monthly reporting package distributed to senior management
  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly consolidated financial statements including the related account analyses and support schedules
  • Prepares and reviews journal entries
  • Prepare and review monthly/quarterly/annual consolidated account analyses for goodwill, intangibles, revenue recognition and various other areas disclosed in the 10Q and 10K  
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses for senior management and assist on special projects
  • Work with entity/divisional personnel to address/resolve accounting issues

Position Accountability / Scope:

  • The position works closely with accounting personnel at various levels across the organization to address/resolve any accounting issues that arise. It also interacts with Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis with respect to monthly consolidated actual results, as well as latest estimates. Works closely with external auditors to address audit questions or data requests.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Business Administration in accounting; CPA a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting, internal audit or financial consolidations experience 
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in the use of Word, Excel, HFM, ESSBASE, SAP; excellent attention to detail; well organized; strong oral, written and interpersonal skills; comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; and self-motivated with strong analytical skills
