Work Description

**Description**The Senior Accountant performs general accounting activities, including the preparation, maintenance and reconciliation of ledger accounts and financial statements and reporting. Conducts or assists in the documentation of accounting projects. The Senior Accountant work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.**Responsibilities**The Senior Accountant prepares, records, analyzes and reports accounting transactions and ensures the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. Provides financial support, including forecasting, budgeting and analyzing variations from budget. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.This role supports financial operations and flow working with Pharmacy claims data at a high volume.This Senior Accountant can work remotely from anywhere in Kentucky with a preference of being local to the Louisville area. There will be required travel to the Louisville office once per quarter for larger team engagement and preferred travel once a month for team meetings/project collaboration.**Required Qualifications**+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance+ 3-5 years of accounting/finance experience which includes recording journal entries, account reconciliations, financial reporting and analysis+ Ability to work with a high volume of data sets+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including high level of experience in Excel+ Strong communications skills both verbal and written+ Great attention to detail+ Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines and priorities+ Comfortability with changing priorities and responsibilities+ Comfortability with communicating with external vendors+ Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences**Preferred Qualifications**+ Master's Degree in Business Administration+ Experience performing Accounting duties in the Healthcare industry and familiarity with Healthcare industry terminology+ Access proficiency+ SQL+ Experience with testing and building test cases**Additional information**Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters.
