Represent the Federal reserve bank of Cleveland to local, state and national elected officials and policymakers as a valued partner and trusted source of non-partisan ideas to solve economic issues.

  • Set the outreach strategy for the government affairs program for the 4th District, including relationship building with elected officials, Congressional Staff and industry trade groups to inform the policymaking process.
  • Serve as Bank subject matter expert in non-partisan outreach to elected officials. Interacts directly with policymakers and staff on behalf of the Bank.
  • Monitor and analyze impacts of proposed legislation at the Federal and State level relevant to the Bank, the Federal Reserve System and the financial services industry. Proactively inform Bank executives on impact and opportunity. Develop talking points, summaries and official comments when applicable.
  • Proactively recommend engagements for Bank leadership and subject matter experts with legislators and staff to inform thinking and enhance knowledge of the Federal Reserve, its perspectives, and its research.
  • Develop appropriate responses to inquiries from government officials, including but not limited to drafting, legal review, executive approval and dissemination.
  • In partnership with Legal, create and maintain guidelines for communicating with government officials. Supports Bank employee compliance.
  • Represent the Bank as an active member within System level workgroups to advance the understanding of the Federal Reserve among elected officials, policymakers, industry and civic groups.
  • Direct the work of staff; coach and develop employees for optimal performance and professional growth.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree, masters preferred, 10+ years of related work experience.
  • Proven record of establishing productive relationships with policy makers at the Federal level.
  • Demonstrated accomplishments that reflect strategic thinking and alignment of strategic plans, tactics, and metrics with business objectives

  • Accurately anticipates internal or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product, or service improvements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of policy issues impacting the banking and financial
    services industries, including financial inclusion.
  • Has a high degree of intellectual curiosity stays current and is an avid reader in the space; stays up to date on known issues and is able to spot new issues as they begin to emerge
  • Discretion and sensitivity in handling confidential and complex issues
  • Equitably champion, mentor, and develop others to grow professionally. Demonstrate vulnerability and empathy to create a trusted environment.

Physical Demands and General Working Conditions

  • Traditional office environment: Employees typically sit most of the day, work with a computer and may answer/respond to phone calls.
  • Physical movement consists of walking for meetings, breaks, etc. Ability to lift items weighing approximately 20 pounds on a limited basis is required. Employees will be required to travel by car/air.
