Oversees the Bank's accounting system and processes.

The Vice President, Controller position at United Bank:



  • Oversees the Banks accounting system and related bank application system reports, including the creation of accounting transactions.

  • Creates the Banks annual report and coordinates the annual financial audit.

  • Creates internal financial reports, including processing ALCO and Board reports.

  • Ensures timely filing of applicable regulatory reports. Communicate the results of financial performance to various members of the Bank.

  • Work with the CFO and ALCO on implementing strategies and budgeting processes.

  • Work with ALCO advisor to create tools and management reports for successful asset/ liability management.

  • Monitors and maintains a documented system of accounting policies, practices, and procedures and implements a system of controls over accounting transactions and processes to minimize risk.

  • Ensures compliance with policy standards relating to asset/ liability management, investments, funds management, liquidity, correspondent banks and other areas as assigned.

  • Serves as a resource for other departments regarding issues related to the Banks accounting system.

  • Directly oversee and supervise accounting department staff and functions.

  • Responsible for areas of compliance as it relates to the position.

  • Undertakes special projects as assigned.


This position requires:



  • Bachelors degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or similar field;

  • Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance or similar field, preferred;

  • And/or four to six years related experience and/or training;

  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience;

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar designation preferred;

  • Ability to create, read, analyze, and interpret complex documents, such as financial reports;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Excellent management and leadership skills;

  • Proficiency in accounting and tax preparation software;

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software;

  • Prolonged period sitting at a desk and working on a computer;

  • Ability to utilize hands & arms;

  • Ability to talk & hear.
