This Community Development Advisor opportunity plays an essential role in our Banks mission and priorities and is a perfect fit for a candidate focused on making a difference.

As a Community Development Advisor, you will be part of the Banks Community Affairs department and support the design and execution of high-profile initiatives focused on supporting select community partnerships that are working to improve digital inclusion, workforce development, community investment, small businesses and economic development, and affordable housing for low-and-moderate income and historically underserved populations. These efforts aim to strengthen communities technical and leadership capacity to address key barriers to job access and human capital development for quality jobs.

You will collaborate with key leaders in government, philanthropy, community, and the private sector to surface systemic gaps and grow awareness and spread of sustainable community development practices in the field. Strong candidates will have expertise with a variety of relationship-building activities, including hosting meetings, conferences, and trainings, and must be adept at engaging senior leadership across Nebraska and in the District to build strong cross-sector coalitions.

You Will:

  • Contribute to the implementation of high-profile targeted initiatives focused on workforce development initiatives, Native American and Indian Country program development, and other community development programs within the District with a central focus on Oklahoma.

  • Create and formalize relationships with key partners across sectors for community development initiatives, including research partners and stakeholders in the Federal Reserve System.

  • Develop a nuanced understanding of how to develop an inclusive economy and translate lessons learned from communities into policy recommendations

  • Partner with the Kansas City Fed government relations team to identify key policymakers to share lessons learned from community development initiatives.

  • Design district/regional events that will showcase the strategy and findings and highlight policy challenges, coordinate logistics for key events

  • Ensure the ongoing success of community development initiatives by maintaining communication and good relations with key partners.

  • Synthesize and document learnings from on-the-ground interventions to inform community and economic development practitioners, researchers, policymakers and other internal and external stakeholders through presentations and Bank publications.

  • Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding research, best practices, and policy expertise on education, workforce development, and related community development issues.

  • Build strategic partnerships and strong working relationships with key partners including Bank advisory committees, research, policy, nonprofit, philanthropic, and other partners. Participate in local, regional, or state committees/taskforces related to the Banks community development areas of focus.

  • Engage in the development of seminars, forums, meetings, and presentations on topics related to the Banks community development areas of focus and cross-sector collaboratives.

  • Participate in District/System workgroups, produce District/System internal reports; other administrative duties.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in business, finance, community or economic development, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.

  • Typically, does not require previous experience. Three or more years experience preferred.

  • Incumbent must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless the Bank grants an accommodation based on a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.
